For families · Boulder–Denver and virtual

Clear answers when memory care can't wait.

Choosing a community, settling in, or raising a concern that isn't being heard: these decisions rarely come with time to research. I bring a Certified Dementia Practitioner's training, research inside memory care communities, and a plain-spoken style, so you can act with confidence and get some relief. I'm paid only by you, never by a community.

A clear next step.Every family deserves to make this decision with confidence.
Independent by design

"Free" placement help is paid for by someone.

Most free senior placement services are paid by the community you move into, often a large share of the first month's rent. Colorado law requires paid referrers to disclose that relationship. It doesn't make their advice wrong, but it does shape which communities you hear about.

I work differently. You pay me directly, and I never accept referral or placement fees. My only job is helping your family make a good decision.

My conflict-of-interest promise

No commissions, ever. I don't take referral or placement fees from any community.

Full disclosure. I also consult for memory care communities. If I have a paid relationship with a community you're considering, I'll tell you before we discuss it.

Your call. I'll give you my honest view. The decision stays with your family.

Where I can help

The moments families call me

Most families reach out when something feels urgent. We start with the most pressing problem first, and you leave our first conversation with a clear next step.

"Is it time?"

Safety worries, caregiver exhaustion, family disagreement. We talk through what you're seeing, what the options are, and what each one will ask of you.

Choosing a community

What to look for, what to ask, and how to tell the difference between a good tour and good care.

The first 90 days

Move-in, the first care plan meeting, and the adjustment period, when families most often feel lost and when habits with staff get set.

"Something feels off"

You're worried but can't name it, or you've raised concerns that went nowhere. I'll help you put words to it and raise it in a way that gets action.

Ways to work together

The Five-Pillar Method, for families

One question per pillar to ask on any tour

These are the five areas that decide whether families end up feeling informed and included. A good community will have ready, specific answers. Vague answers tell you something too.

01

Communication

Do you hear about changes before you have to ask?

Ask"If my mom has a fall at 2 a.m., who calls me, and how soon?"
02

Trust

Are they honest when things go wrong?

Ask"Tell me about a time a family raised a concern. What changed afterward?"
03

Education

Will you understand what's happening and what's coming?

Ask"How do you help families understand each stage of dementia?"
04

Engagement

Will you be a partner, or a visitor?

Ask"How will staff get to know who my husband was before dementia?"
05

Responsiveness

Will your questions get answered?

Ask"Who is my main contact, and how quickly do they usually reply?"

Already have a loved one in care? Take the free family assessment to see how your community measures up across all five.

Who you'll work with

Training, research, and a clear voice

Credential. I'm a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP®). My guidance draws on established approaches, including the Alzheimer's Association care recommendations, Positive Approach® to Care, and Validation.

Research. I study memory care communities in Colorado and California from three sides: leadership, care staff, and families. I know how communities are staffed, where communication tends to break down, and which questions get past the sales pitch.

Communication. I make complicated things simple. You get plain language, written next steps after every session, and a reply within one business day. I've also been a memory care family myself, so I won't rush you.

What I'm not: a nurse, doctor, lawyer, or financial advisor. When you need one, I'll tell you.

Questions families ask

Before you book

Do you take commissions from communities?

No. I never accept referral or placement fees. You pay me directly, so my only incentive is a good outcome for your family.

You also consult for communities. Isn't that a conflict?

It's why I know what good looks like from the inside. If I have a paid relationship with a community you're considering, I'll tell you before we discuss it, and you can decide how much weight to give my view.

Do you work outside Colorado?

Yes, virtually. In-person tours and meetings are available along the Boulder–Denver corridor. Everything else works by video and phone.

Can you tell me which community to choose?

I'll give you my honest read on every community you're considering, and help you weigh the trade-offs. The choice stays with your family. You know your loved one best.

Is this medical advice?

No. I'm a Certified Dementia Practitioner and family advocate, not a clinician. I'll help you ask the right questions of the people who give medical, legal, and financial advice.

If you need support right now, the Alzheimer's Association 24/7 Helpline is 1-800-272-3900.
